Inspired by the totem poles he first saw as a child at the ROM in Toronto, Peter Paylor is a carver in the Pacific Northwest tradition. Raven, Bear, Wolf, Beaver, Whale – these are the figures that are from released from the wood by his knife.

His particular interest in the shaman tradition comes through in his carvings in both wood and soapstone.
